About Sue Montgomery

I came to England in 1979 to study Business & Marketing in Kensington, where I met my husband Farlan. After we were married, I worked as a telesales operator for a year in the chemist company Uni-Chem, until my daughter, Beth, was was born. In 1983, I studied Office skills and New Technologies at Uxbridge Technical College, before working as a supervisor in Harshel Foods Magnifique Ltd, and then changing my career from office work to a chef.

My first business was a small cafe in North Kensington, serving English breakfasts and Thai lunches; I did this for five years before deciding to concentrate on pure Thai cuisine, and I opened Alisa Thai Restaurant in Acton Town Station. Soon after that, I opened Butlers Thai Restaurant in St. Mary’s Road, Ealing, serving English food by day, and Thai food by night. Through Butlers, I became very well known in the local area and have been working as a chef in the Thai Forester restaurant on Northfields Avenue for three years now.

With fifteen years of experience and a passion for cooking and creating my own recipes, I returned to study at Thames Valley University to gain further qualifications in all aspects of catering, such as the NVQ in Food Hygiene, so that I could gain the knowledge and skill required to teach Thai cookery.

Thai Cooking School is my new venture. I am looking forward to it being a great success and am hoping that with help and support, it will become a charity organisation, as I would very much like to help children in need and poor people around the world.
